In order to process an Extension to Lien, the property owner(s) and the lien claimant must all agree and sign the extension. Extensions cannot be processed unilaterally - everyone must agree.

Lien Extension Details

California Civil Code Section 3144(a): A lien can be extended for up to one (1) year from the date the job was completed. Please make sure that you do not exceed the 1 year timeframe.

Special Note

Effective January 1, 2018, the California Senate passed Senate Bill 2 which adds an additional $75.00 filing fee for each real estate related document filed. This fee is levied per property, per document title. Once we complete the title research, our team will notify you if there are any additional fees due. You will have an opportunity to cancel if you decide not to proceed. Most of the time, there are no additional fees due.

Certified Copy of Filing

A certified copy is an "official copy" issued by the government agency. The certified copy has a special stamp which certifies your filed documents as a "true and correct copy." We recommend that you purchase a certified copy for your own records.

There is an additional $35.00 fee for each certified copy. It is not required, but we recommend that you purchase one for your own records.
